Thing #17

The bookmarking tools are inventive for the use of the teacher. I think that being able to use these to network with other teachers about topics can keep the classroom learning environment "fresh" and alive. If you do the same old thing, the students are going to get bored. This can be beneficial to the students as well. It will give the students more outlets for research and collaboration projects. I can see this as a good organizational tool for the teacher as well to keep up with what is taught from year to year and keep good ideas from getting lost in the shuffle. 

Thing #16

I chose to use Netvibes to do my start page. So much time and creative information can be shown on that start page. I think these types of pages will be great for individual presentations in English in secondary schools.  The different ways to show the creative side of the student will help those who feel like they are not creative, like me. I think once I set up my classroom I will use this as a way to do my start page.
The online calendar 30 boxes is useful and seems to be easy to add information to it. The fact that there are "to do" lists that the students can use to let me know where they are in the progress of their projects. I like looking at calendars to see where I am and where I need to be, to help me keep up, I believe these will be great sources for the students and teachers alike.
I like the Ta da list of online lists as it seems easier and I love the thought of Jott personally but I don't think it would be feasible for students.  I would say that if I was going to use a "to do" list I would stick with the calendar because it has both the "to do" and calendar apps. Instead of doing an additional app for a list.
The backpack program is awesome, using all of the above listed items together on one site, it is great.
All of the products available for better quality production of the students work are really good, I just hope that where I teach we will have a fraction of that available to us.  I love the 30 boxes calendar and lists site, I feel it will be useful at home and school. 

Thing 15

The wiki's are interesting and I am sure I will be able to use them in group presentations and projects. I think it is great that they can add and change their formatting and ideas.
I do think there would have to be rules about changing another student's work though. I could see there being problems with some students about wanting to control the tone of the whole project. Team work would be needed to have this used as a successful learning tool.

Thing 14

These tools will be useful to the student in several classes, because it allows the teacher to illustrate visually, what is needed on a project.  Students comprehend things differently, so the use of the flow charts and mind maps will allow the visual concept and clarification they might need.
I went into the Gliffy website and it was pretty good for flowcharts. 
I did not care for the Bubbl.us as  it was not easily accessible.  Although it might be okay for the student, I feel like it was difficult at first use to be able to decipher the language.  I find as a future teacher it might be a little time consuming, if you use mind maps very often.
I did however like the easy access use of mindmeister. Easy to use and work with. If a teacher is using very many mind mapping activities, this would be my first choice.  I especially like the brainstorming and to-do-list templates.
 I love lists and I will incorporate to do lists in my instruction period through power points and transparencies.

Thing 13

Zoho Writer is a pretty unique website. Being given the opportunity to use so many great sources in which to have access will allow the user a much broader accessibility to documents and projects. Just the software space on you computer alone is worth using it. Using it in English projects, will allow the students that can, access to be able change group projects and presentations as they need.  Since I am planning on using a blog within my class the use with a blog with be helpful. 

Google Docs:  This is pretty cool software, as far as English projects, it can be helpful with the students to create projects by having the never ending internet sources for creativity points available to the students and groups. They can all do a search for particular topic or idea within their subject so as to save time with research gathering.

Thing 12#

So much out there to learn about in the technological world especially helps for teachers and students. The Google alerts tool is pretty neat because of the quickness of the information being sent to you. I am a big Chipper Jones fan (not quite stalkish) and Jeff Fisher fan (to the point of stalking) ha ha, ,just kidding, but I could put in any news that I want keep up with in regards to a specific topic or issue and have it sent to me. New ways to teach a specific standard, or new technology in regards to English for high school students and if I know that a student is interested in something, and it is content worthy, I could forward it to them. The calender is good, but I find that my phone works better for me, only because I know how to work my way through the process.  The translate would be awesome if you have some students within your class who are not fluent in the English language and accidentally write the wrong English word. 

Thing #11

The RSS reader, again it is great. Just the fact that you are able to subscribe to something and not have to search for that web page every time you want or need it, is just such a time saving commodity. The easiest way I found was once I am on the page and it I provides the information I am looking for, to find the RSS feed symbol and subscribe to it. Easy peasy.  I feel like the google blog search was the easiest only because it seems to work well with all of my other google sites, but I am sure the other ones once investigated more deeply will become just as easy.  The Topix.net was a little harder only because I couldn't use firefox to use it properly. A lot of different feeds were provided in just about anything you want to search, so many different topics, blogs and information that you don't really realize is that easy to get.
